Who then wanted the ice to fall on the oceans The light I stole The days in the undergrowth But I fell to the earth But I soar But what is the song? But who has created the sign? What was the water that shaped the world What was the night As it fell on the rocks As they shaped into ice I stood upon the waves that have turned to ash But the sole comfort in this dying pagan world What deity to watch over us In the calming storm At night, I stood alone Watching

I stood upon the gates Waiting in aspiration As I stood next to the river Watching my life fall beneath All these nights in the grove And I stood upon the world Gazing Gazing at the sky Under the sky We drifted away And danced under the roof of stars We drifted away And watched our lives fall to the waves But what I told them You will be rewarded Rejuvenated by the earth As you stand and wait in the mist And watch the violet sea roll by And watch the violet sea roll by And I stood upon the world Gazing Gazing at the sky Under the sky We drifted away And danced under the perils of time And watch the violet sea roll by And watch the violet sea roll by But what I told them You will be rewarded Rejuvenated by the earth As you stand and wait in the mist Until dawn

about

Violet Mist & Infrared Stars is the debut demo from New England Funeral Doom band, Great Cold Emptiness. Exploring themes of surrealism, nature worship and metaphysics, it is a very lo-fi, amateur recording. I recorded it when I was 14-15 and it's a very special project of mine.

Recorded in St Agatha Maine in a small cabin near Long Lake during the midsummer of 2014, as well as Washington County, Maine during a hiking trip.
